Rangers await Kamara transfer windfall as Premier League promotion would seal fee

Rangers will receive a six-figure transfer windfall should Glen Kamara achieve Premier League promotion with Leeds.

The ex-Rangers midfielder is into the play-off final at Wembley with the Championship club where they will face either Southampton or West Brom. 

Leeds finished third in the division this season, missing out on an automatic promotion place.

However, they have booked their spot in the play-off final next weekend for a 90-minute showdown with a Premier League place up for grabs.

Should Leeds be promoted, then Rangers would bank a near-£500,000 transfer windfall through a clause in his transfer deal to join the English club.

Rangers received a £5m transfer fee upfront for Kamara with the Premier League promotion incentive included in the deal.

Kamara could come up against former Ibrox team-mate Joe Aribo in the play-off final should Southampton progress to the Wembley showdown. Russell Martin - who had a loan spell at Rangers - is the current Saints manager in another Ibrox link.

Leeds boss Farke said of the win over Norwich to make the play-off final: "If someone had told us we'd get to Wembley and one game away from the Premier League back at the start of September, I'd have said no chance. But right now we have that chance. Well done to the boys. It was one of the most complete performances of the season against a really good side."

The news of another possible transfer windfall payout for Rangers comes after they banked £1.2m from Malik Tillman's move to PSV Eindhoven.

Tillman had been on loan at Rangers with Ibrox chiefs keen to complete a permanent deal for the USA international before a Bayern rethink saw any deal collapse.

Rangers received around £1m in compensation after the Bundesliga club pulled out of the agreement, and a further 10 per cent sell-on fee was included in the settlement.

PSV paid a reported £12m to sign Tillman on a four-year deal in turn landing Rangers a £1.2m chunk of the transfer fee.
